Lucas King Finds Freedom in Electronic Expression With “Vulpes”

Australian producer Lucas King continues to carve out his own path in electronic music with “Vulpes,” a release born from instinct, emotion and years of musical evolution. Based in Edenhope, a small town in Western Victoria, King has developed his sound away from the usual music-industry centres, building a self-sufficient creative process shaped by both necessity and passion.

King’s musical story began at the age of 12, when he started playing drums before later learning guitar. By grade nine, he was performing in bands and writing his own music. Though those groups did not progress into long-term projects, they helped form the foundation of his songwriting and left him with a lasting connection to heavier rock music.

With fewer musicians nearby after moving to a smaller town, King began recording independently and playing all the instruments himself. His production journey progressed from traditional recording to dawless electronic rigs and, eventually, DAW-based creation.

“Vulpes” reflects King’s preference for working quickly and following inspiration before it fades. Usually drawn to the spacious, groove-led territory of 90–125 BPM, he also embraces experimentation whenever an idea feels emotionally charged. The result is electronic music that values atmosphere, freedom and genuine creative momentum over rigid perfection.
